Heart disease is the leading cause of death in American women.According to health statistics, 1 out of every 2 women in America will die from heart disease. Although it is considered a condition of the elderly, recent stats show the contrary: heart disease is the primary cause of death in women 65 and older, a secondary cause in women aged 45-64, and a third cause of mortality in women between 25 and 44 . For this reason, The Heart Center has opened a Women’s heart clinic to create awareness of heart disease and how it specifically affects women. This clinic is geared to the unique needs of women because the symptoms and diagnostic testing for heart disease are different for women. We are privileged to offer this service, and believe we can make a difference together in fighting this number one killer, as we improve the general health of Kern County.
